The Protagonish Release Date!

The Protagonish Release Date!

Ah! It's a tale as old as time, the Delayed Video Game Release Date!

Externally, we were working towards a September release for The Protagonish, which seemed reasonable at the time. However, after a very interrupted summer (and lousy weather), we've decided to release towards the end of October. That will give us much more time to get the full game polished, and make sure that journalists and reviewers get their hands on something we are actually happy with, without too many caveats or known bugs.

It will also allow us to hopefully get into Steam Next Fest (watch this space!) as the demo is on Steam, and has been already played by hundreds of people, and wishlisted by hundreds more!

I attended Timeless Gaming in Bury, and were in the Indie Showcase, organised by the amazing people at Debug magazine - make sure you get a subscription! Loads of people played, and also got to meet some amazing gamedevs, like Bad Reaction games, there with the hilarious and surreal It's Grim Up North! I also got to meet both halves of Tall Story Games, who the night before had just finished their amazing Kickstarter for Heir of the Dog. It really shows how much interest there is in new adventure games, like the just released and amazing The Crimson Diamond. The point-and-click renaissance continues!

It's also so fun watching people play and get a laugh from our game, and also meeting streamers who love the idea of playing to a live audience and getting chat to vote on the decisions to take...

We have now been working towards the final version of The Protagonish, with all temp assets gone now, many improved animations, and much more dialogue and logic. It's still not quite playable all the way to the end(s), but that should happen next week. Then lots of testing, and hopefully sending it your way by the end of October 2024! Don't forget to join our newsletter so you get updates as soon as they are released: there will be lots of fun content over the next couple of months...

You can also meet us in person at our last event before launch... Play Expo in Blackpool! Super fortunate to be able to show off the game there, and excited to meet so many other great names that will be in the indie space.

There's still a lot more promotion and marketing to do, but we are already blown over by the great coverage we've had so far, people love the concept and the demo, and we hope they will love the full game too. Lots more work to do to get the word out, but already totally smashed through our wishlist and demo download expectations, so can't wait to show you more!
